What is the best area to stay in Cagliari?

The historical centre of Cagliari is the best area to stay, being just a few steps from the sea, offering many architectural wonders, located close to the city´s main monuments, museums, shops, bars, restaurants and much more.
Among the many places to visit in the city centre you will find the Piazza Yenne, the beautiful Carlo Felice monument, the Bastione di Saint Remy, which is home to a marvellous terrace with 360° views, and the Torre dell’Elefante that also offers amazing views of the city. Travelling down the Largo Carlo Felice you will arrive at the port area, where you will be able to enjoy the Via Roma, a long street lined with shopping galleries full of boutiques and traditional restaurants.
If you like shopping then you will be spoilt for choice, although the centre´s most typical shops are places such as the Durke or L´Enoteca Biondi 1959, where tourists flock to buy souvenirs. If you want to experience the area´s nightlife, you can start your evening at Muzak bar or the American Biffi Bar.
The quickest option to get to and from the airport on public transport is the train, which is just 15 minutes outside of the historical centre. The city also has a metro and many bus routes. Poetto beach is the most popular beach for the inhabitants of Cagliari due to its proximity and extension. A long beach of fine sand of more than 8 km that begins in Sella del Diavolo and ends in Quartu Sant’Elena.
