The old town and its neighbouring beach (Inatel) are the best areas to stay in Albufeira, as they are just a few meters away from the city centre, as well as offering easy access to the most beautiful beaches. It is a quiet area, although if you are looking for atmosphere, there are many bars, nightclubs and restaurants within just a few minutes walking distances.


The Historic Centre´s pedestrian area is full of shops and other commercial activity, such as a market in the Plaza 25 de Abril, where you will find necklaces, coloured rosary beads, pendants, dresses, sarongs and much more. The square offers something for everyone and also leads you to the Peneco Beach and Fishermans Beach, which is one of the Algarve´s most famous beaches due to it being centre stage for the city´s most important sporting and cultural events.


Within walking distance, you will also come across the Engehneiro Duarte Pacheco Square, the Jacinto D´Ayet Square where the XVIII century Santa Ana Church can be found, the Municipal Museum of Archaeology and the Museum of Sacred Art. You can also visit the marina, which is a pleasant 15-minute walk away. If you are looking for places to have lunch or enjoy a bit of nightlife you don´t have to go far, as the area is home to many bars offering live music, delicious drinks and excellent food.


Don´t leave without visiting the Lagoa dos Salgados. Just 20 minutes away by car, you will find this beautiful tourist spot which boats amazing views and is considered part of Algarve´s regional heritage, as it is home to an immense and varied number of bird and plant species. Faro airport is also just 40 minutes away.

The old town and Inatel beach, the best places to stay in Albufeira
