Best area to stay in Kansas City

The best area to stay in Kansas City is without a doubt the downtown, thanks to its skyscrapers, Art Deco buildings and proximity to the vibrant district of Power and Light (known as “P & L”), a bustling area full of bars, restaurants, shops, theatres and cinemas.

You can also visit the Sprint Centre during your stay in the downtown, which is where all of the city´s most important concerts take place. Here you can also enjoy some contemporary art in the Kemper Museum, contemplate the colours of the J.C. Nichols Fountain by night, and experience the great nightlife and city´s most distinguishing sound: Jazz.

If you like American football, just 15 minutes by car you have the Arrowhead Stadium, where you can watch the professionalteam Kansas City play, or the Chiefs. If you prefer baseball, then the same distance away you will find the Kauffman Stadium, where you can watch the KC Royals in action.

Don´t forget to visit Union Station, which boasts an array of things to explore, including the Planetarium, the Rail Museum, and many other attractions. Finally, say goodbye to the city with amazing views from the top of the Liberty Memorial.

Downtown Kansas City, the best place to stay

Nightlife, without a car, couples, Chiefs game, Royals game

Downtown Kansas CityOne of the main advantages of staying in the centre of Kansas City is how easy it is to get to all of the city’s different areas on foot or via public transport. The recently opened Kansas City tramway has 16 stops distributed across the city, making it easy to get to all the main neighbourhoods of interest. The line starting at KC Downtown Streetcar, which runs across approximately 2 miles, from north to south, departs from the River Market and runs all the way to the historic Union Station, passing by Main Street. Stops include the Central Business District, the Power & Light District and the Crown Centre, not to mention the numerous shops, restaurants, art galleries and residences which you can sightsee or visit on your way. What’s more, the best part about travelling by tram in Kansas is that it is free for everyone.

On the other hand, if you are planning on travelling by car, there are around 40,000 parking spots right in the heart of Downtown, making it fairly easy to find somewhere to park. Although the Kansas airport is a 17-minute drive from the city centre, it´s worth staying in the centre so you can experience the trendy Power & Light bars and restaurants, attend the many events that take place in the theatres and stadiums or visit the main tourist attractions.
