Best place to stay in Búzios

Where is the best place to stay in Búzios?

Located not far from Río de Janeiro, Búzios is a real gift from nature which no human design would be capable of recreating. This small peninsular offers beautiful beaches and bays mixed in with nature, making every corner more beautiful than the next.

Each of its 23 beaches has a special charm to it, although if what you are looking for is a lively atmosphere, restaurants, nightlife, pubs and shopping, the best place to stay is Búzios city centre. The beautiful Street Rua das Pedras is the most famous street in Búzios and is where all the action happens. If staying in the centre, you will have beaches such as the Brava beach and Playa dos Pasos just a short walk away and can easily get around to restaurants via one of the vans or taxis that have a rank there.

The area of Humaita offers impressive views of the seafront and Búzios bay and boasts incredibly beautiful sunsets. It´s an ideal area for those looking for a quieter place to stay but also within walking distance of the city centre.

The centre of Búzios, the best place to stay

Although it´s not hard to stumble across beautiful beaches here, if you´re looking to visit the best places along the 8km of the Búzios peninsular, the best place to stay is in one of the hotels located in the centre. Its streets, many of which are pedestrian, are safe and well signposted, making it easy to get around on foot from your hotel and easy to find the area´s most spectacular beaches. There are several minibus stops in the centre with buses that will take you all along the main street (Estrada José Bento Ribeiro Dantas) or you can also easily grab a taxi to any beach or destination. For example, a taxi fare from Rua das Pedras to João Fernandes o Geribá will cost approximately R$ 25 and takes no more than ten minutes.

The centre is also the best place to stay if you are looking to book a day trip. You can also take a water taxi from the town´s jetty to any of the beaches in the northern part of the peninsular, although as these are smaller boats, they can´t go out into open sea, or to the southern area of the peninsular. With a wide array of restaurants, bars and shops, the centre offers all the amenities necessary to enjoy the bustling Búzios life.

Other places to stay in Búzios

Geribá Beach

If you´re looking to surf, party and have fun, Geribá is the perfect choice. The waves are bigger here and the water is cooler than on other beaches in Búzios, meaning it´s not the best option for kids, but it is popular among the younger crowd and you will find some of the most fashionable establishments on its shores, such as the Fish Bone Café.

João Fernandinho Beach

At just 100 metres long and located to the north of the peninsula, 15 minutes by car from the centre, the João Fernandinho Beach boasts calm and crystal waters which are perfect for diving or snorkelling. This beach, with a chilled atmosphere, is set amongst trees where you can sit back and relax under their shade, forming a natural barrier that protects you from the wind, guaranteeing you a peaceful day at the beach. The offering of restaurants, shops and bars is more limited due to the small size of the bay, but if you´re looking for privacy and natural beauty, then João Fernandinho beach is the best choice.

Ferradurinha Beach

The Ferradurinha beach is located on a small cove in the south of the peninsular, around 3,5km from the town centre, between the Ferradura and Geribá beaches. Surrounded by lush vegetation and spectacular rock formations, creating a truly dreamy scenery, Ferradurinha is a paradise for swimming, snorkelling, kayaking and sunbathing. It´s much calmer than other more touristy beaches in Búzios and boasts several basic but great bars and restaurants where you can taste delicious freshly caught fish.

Ferradura Beach

The Ferradura beach is the perfect option for families. It’s a cosy and wide beach, with calm water and a wide range of restaurants, shops and kiosks. Here you can also book banana-boat, kayak and boat excursions, as well as sailing lessons for the little ones or even treat yourself to a relaxing massage. It´s also really well located, as it is situated close to the centre, making it the perfect choice for your stay.
