Fallsview Boulevard, the best area to stay in Niagara Falls
This area is very accessible to get to and is an ideal place to stay in as there are four or five airports that are in close proximity with the majority of them offering shuttle buses frequently as well as taxis and car rentals. Niagara Falls has a very low crime rate but still has a well guarded police force, which means that this is a very safe area for tourists and there is nothing to worry about when staying in Fallsview Boulevard.
Obviously you come here to see the falls, which consist of three waterfalls, The Horseshoe Falls, the American Falls and the Bridal Veil Falls with them crossing over both America and Canada. The Horseshoe Falls are the largest and widest with a height of 190 feet and 2,600 feet wide and there a variety of ways to see them and it just comes down to personal preference. If you like being on a boat then the ship, ‘Maid of the Mist’, will take you right to the foot of the falls, which is the best way to really appreciate the power and velocity of the spray. However, a better option could be the ‘Journey Behind the Falls’ as it gives you the chance to actually feel the spray from behind the waterfall and generally this is a quieter activity, though is just as amazing as the other ways. You can also go by helicopter, which makes for sublime views of the waterfalls and gives a completely different perspective of the falls and these tours can be arranged at the attraction but is the most expensive. There are excellent views from the top of the Skylon Tower, which has an observation deck as well as a unique revolving restaurant and games for kids.
Other things nearby include the Whirlpool Aero Car, which sends you over the Niagara whirlpool by cable car and the Marineland Theme Park is home to various roller coasters and rides with a section on many marine species including: Killer whales, beluga whales, sea lions, dolphins, walruses and many other types. There are more amusement type attractions at Clifton Hill as it contains a haunted house, wax museums, Ferris wheel and lots of arcades and close to this is the Botanical Gardens, which has an enormous amount of plants and flowers.
Other things to see include the Butterfly Conservatory, Bird Kingdom, Brick City, an IMAX theatre, casinos, water parks and the Floral Clock. Souvenirs are very much in demand here and therefore you will see a good amount of shops and malls with the Niagara Square Shopping Centre being the biggest and has the widest range of stores inside it as well as restaurants, cafes and bars. Fallsview Boulevard luckily has restaurants too with a decent selection of cuisines like Japanese, American, Brazilian, Chinese, European and more. For drinking, try the Watermark Restaurant, which offers some of the most spectacular views of the falls whilst sipping on a beer and eating some traditional meals. The hotels along this street are hands down the best, in terms of quality and views as the majority of them sit right in front of the falls.
