Where is the best area to stay in Luang Prabang?

The ancestral city of Luang Prabang, situated in the North of Laos, was named a UNESCO world heritage site in 1995. This amazing town is set at 700 metres above sea level, where the river Nam Khan and the Mekong River meet. Being the main tourist destination in Laos, and given that it is considered by many to be the most beautiful place in the whole of Southeast Asia, food, drink and accommodation prices are higher than in the capital, Vientiane.
Luang Praban is a relatively small city, making it easy to access all areas on foot, no matter where you are staying. However, the city centre is where the majority of hotels, shops and nightlife can be found, so we recommend staying in this area of town.
The centre of Luan Prabang consists of four main streets, upon where hundreds of monks from the neighbouring areas descend every morning as part of a “soul collecting” mission. The city’s most important places can be found within the city centre, such as the National Museum and the famous Night Market.
